Why is Skoach web-based?
Skoach is web-based so you can call on it just about anywhere. You can access your Skoach page from any computer with an internet connection, whether you're at work or at home. You can enter appointments, get your schedule, or get reminders anywhere you have cell service. You don't have to synchronize or update between computers. It's ideal for a busy life.
Can I sync Skoach with my pda or iphone?
Skoach offers reminders and access through any cell or email enabled device, but as yet there is no Skoach version for an iphone or pda. iCal and Outlook sync are in development but do not offer full synchronization yet. Skoach can export lists and agendas in excel, and that can usually be transferred to a handheld.
I have an appointment book on my pda. What does Skoach offer that my pda doesn't?
A comprehensive ADD-friendly approach to time and task management, designed to streamline planning and strengthen time skills. Skoach is designed with tools to handle distractions, interruptions, and changes of plan quickly and completely. Other appointment books may be able to handle your schedule once it's planned, but only Skoach actively helps you plan and schedule effectively, or handle unexpected changes quickly.
How much does Skoach cost?
Skoach is currently free. Skoach will likely become a subscription service, so if you're thinking about trying Skoach, this is a great time to do it! Skoach is a tremendous tool for taking control of life with ADD, and we hope you will find that the benefits of using Skoach regularly will more than repay the likely cost of subscribing. To repeat, though--Skoach is at present FREE. To register and start using Skoach, go to www.skoach.com and click on 'Enter'.
Is Skoach compatible with Mac?
Skoach can be used with Mac with the Firefox browser. Many of the task and appointment menus are available through CTRL + mouse click in Mac.
I get most of my assignments by email. How would that work with Skoach?
Just forward any emails that require action to Skoach. It goes directly into your Skoach task list or schedule. The subject of the email becomes the task name, and the information within the email is copied to the notes for that task.
What makes Skoach different from other time management programs?
Skoach recognizes the unique challenges that ADD brings to time management.
"Several ADD tendencies complicate the time management picture so profoundly that most conventional time management advice simply does not apply to adults with ADD."--from ADD-friendly Ways to Organize Your Life, by Kolberg and Nadeau.
Skoach is designed to work with the specific challenges that come with ADHD, in an ADD-friendly way. It offers tools to create and reinforce structure and time sense, and still remain flexible. Skoach is designed to reduce the amount of time and effort it takes to assess, plan, and track tasks effectively.
Do I have to be good with computers to use Skoach?
Some degree of comfort with a computer is helpful. Skoach can stay with you through the day through email and cell phone, but for consistent support it works best for people that use a computer at least a few minutes most days.
Will Skoach give me more time?
If it ever seems like there isn't enough time in the day to keep track of everything--much less to schedule or do it--you may find that Skoach saves a tremendous amount of time in planning, scheduling, and rescheduling.
I have too many things on my plate already. How can I take the time to try a new time management system?
Please read the excellent article by Dr. Nadeau
Getting The Most out of Skoach.
I hate schedules. Is Skoach all about scheduling?
Skoach is as much about flexibility as about scheduling. It even has an UN-scheduling wizard, and ways to protect time for yourself. With Skoach, you can set your schedule and still be the boss. You can nag yourself before anyone else gets to, and change your schedule quickly without having to pull out your task list again. If you really hate scheduling, delegate it to Skoach and let it worry about keeping time.
What coaching tools come with Skoach?
Skoach offers tools to strengthen time sense, build good routines, be on time, plan effectively, and live pro-actively, but it isn't a substitution for coaching. ADD Coaches can use Skoach to stay connected with their client, find areas where their client needs additional support, and to reinforce specific time skills.
